What if I were a lesbian …..

If you are wondering…..no I am not, but that question inspired this post. Recently after having convos with friends, family, and church members, really got me to thinking what if this statement were true.

If this statement were true I would be all alone, why would I say this? (person’s names are left out and relationship omitted to prevent assumptions)

  1. Person stated if I had played sports I would have become a bull dagger

  2. People have stated on numerous occasions or assumed people’s sexuality based on their mannerisms.

  3. People have given looks and gesture when they see a person out with their partner or a person that they know is gay.

This is really beginning to bother me….especially from people from the church community. My question is this, if your faith teaches you to love people and to except whosoever will, how are they going to feel welcome if you are criticizing and talking about them behind their back and sometimes to their face?

What ever your beliefs are, what if people criticized you for who you were? What if people looked at you crazy, called you names, ostracized you without even getting to know them?

People of faith, what if people treated you bad because you lied, cheated, fornicated, were a glutton (put your vice here).  You talk about a loving God, you talk about reaching the lost at any cost, but your actions do not say the same….

As I write this post I am holding myself accountable, have I been guilty of doing some of things above, yes, but I am working hard to not continue to do those things. Despite what people say words hurt, actions hurt. You never know that you might be the only example of Christ that people see….and if that example is a person who criticizes and talks about people without thought of others feelings…..that is a problem.

So I pose the question again….what if I were a lesbian???
